Here is a cute way of tying a spring scarf!

I saw a scarf tied like this on a mannequin on my store and thought that it was SO unique! I had one of my co-workers teach me and now I’m going to teach all of you!

Happy Spring!

It was an affair to remember at Kate Spade!   I have been a fan of this iconic brand since day one, and had the pleasure of getting creative and crafty with their namesake London tote.  Deborah Lloyd, Chief Creative Officer, and I hosted a fete at the Flagship Broome Street store in celebration of my BOOK.  A handful of my closest creative friends from Design*Sponge, Fashionista.com, StyleRepublic Magazine, Lonny Magazine, and style guru Andrew Mukamal, got their DIY on and did not disappoint! Deborah even joined in on the fun.  Check out everyones exceptionally creative, one-of-a-kind “PS’ed” designs, as well as the bevy of other fabulous guests who customized Limited Edition “P.S.- I made this… with Kate Spade” bags.
P.S.- My bag was painted with Hudson Chalk board paint (yes! you can draw and erase on the surface), studded on the bottom with edgy silver spikes from M&J, faux stitched with Sharpies, and finished off with a bag charm (chalk not included)!  Take a page from Kate Spade’s world of style and remember to have fun, and have courage- don’t be shy with your DIY!

For DiNozzo:
Wear dress pants, dress shirt and dress shoes. Part your hair to the side.
For Ziva:
Wear either dark jeans or cargos with a black tee and black combat boots. Put your hair up in a slicked back pony-tail
For the Jacket:
Get a black jacket - preferably fleece since it will be cold out (we got ours at Wal-Mart last year for $15 each)
Use White Sticky Labels to “write” on the back and front of the jacket. Cut sticky labels down to desired size.
Take clear packaging tape and tape over the completed letter on the front and back of the jacket (the more you move, the more likely parts of the lettering will fall off, the tape prevents this from happening)
For the Badge:
Get clip on clear pouches at Wal-Mart or any other store (Ours were about $4 for a pack of 10)
Google NCIS badges online or RECOMMEND ME/ give me a SHOUT OUT and I’ll e-mail one to you, O=) I made mine in paint shop pro.

Here is mine and my boyfriend’s take on Sandy and Danny from Grease!
Sandy:
Make a circle skirt (my mom made mine) - I got the poodle from Walmart, it’s an iron on patch and there are directions online on how to make the skirt
Get a white button up shirt and tuck it in to the skirt
You can’t tell, but I have a pink neck scarf on (I took it off one of my Coach purses) and my hair is in a pony tail with a pink ribbon in it
The reason I have a pink skirt and a black cardigan was so I can match my pink and black Converse hi-tops =)
Danny (now this is where the REAL creativity comes in ;D):
Get a leather, or pleather jacket - we used white sticky labels (similar to address labels or name tags) to make the back rather than ruining the jacket with paint. Cut the labels and stick on the back to make a desired pattern. We copied one we saw online.
Wear a White Tee (gotta look like a greaser!)
Pair of Dark Slim Jeans
Black Converse to top it all off (he borrowed both the jeans and converse from a friend the same size)

Halloween Costume Question (I deleted it on accident)

Question (asked by Tiffany): hey! i have trouble finding a costume for halloween.. i want it to be not so fancy and cloths i can use without buying specific items.. i was thinking of being mickey mouse but then i dont have red pants, yellow shoes, AND the ears… so i guess that’s not gonna work.. so any suggestions?

Answer:

Here are easy costumes to put together…

  • Cowboy or Girl - Plaid shirt, jeans and boots - Need a hat? Borrow a friends or hit up the local dollar store.
  • Princess - Every girl’s dream! Halloween is a great occasion to pull out formal dresses you’ve only worn once. Get a tiara from the dollar store and you’re good to go!
  • A Scarecrow - Borrow your dad’s old dress shirt and stuff it with paper bags. Toss on an old pair of blue jeans and old shoes. Fashion your make up to resemble that of the scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz.
  • A Ghost - Throw a sheet over your head and make eye holes ;)
  • Mummy - wrap yourself in toilet paper! Just joking, cut up old white t-shirts and tie the strips together. Wrap around your body to secure.

Hope this helps!

PS - this week I will be showing how to make DIY (Do-it-yourself) Grease [the musical] and NCIS costumes for both boys and girls! Stay tuned ;)

DIY - Toga

Just in time for Halloween! Here is an updated twist to a classic costume. I got invited to a toga party and didn’t want to wear my pink sheet ;)

Step 1: Grab a cute pair of shorts and a tube top!

Step 2: Take a long scarf and hold it diagonally in front of you. Drape it over your right shoulder.

Step 3: Pull the scarf around you, crossing it in the back.

Step 4:  Pull the two ends of the scarf together and tie it.

Step 5: Take a cute belt and complete the look!

This can also make a cute off the shoulder top paired with skinny jeans!
