s3xnoise asked: ok so, i go to a school where pretty much the only thing you can get away with wearing is abercrombie tees and skinny jeans. how can i work trendier things into my wardrobe without looking too out of place?
The best thing to do is add a “trendier piece” one at a time to your outfit. The great thing about Abercrombie, Hollister, American Eagle, etc. is that they have so many fun basics to wear (plain tanks, tees, etc.)! Accessorizing is a great way of breaking the mold without looking out of place.

Here is a little “western” twist on wearing Hollister/ A&F tee and jeans.

I’d suggest wearing non-destroyed, DARK denim and a pair of boots. If you don’t have boots, then I would wear flats or laceless sneakers, just no rubber flip flops! Rather than investing in a whole new wardrobe, take the basics from your A&F wardrobe and rock them with new accessories. Hope this helps!
Welcome to Collegiate Fashion’s first MIX IT UP! post =) It’s a series of how to pair older pieces of one’s wardrobe with newer items to give them new life!

Working at Hollister during High School and the first few years of college has left me with a TON of these flowing tank tops. Rather than toss or donate them, I am finding different ways of updating them for my college life style.
- Tip: Adding a cardigan to a tank top instantly gives it a new look. I’m wearing this outfit to work today!
